About The Midwifery Institute

What we do

The Midwifery Institute was founded in 2014 by Heather Carmody and Rebecca Emmons, both midwives, after numerous interactions with doulas, which left them wanting more support and more accurate education for their clients.
What began as a 6-week course of in-person workshops has now blossomed into a variety of intensive online courses,  all offered to students across the world in an accessible online-only self-paced format to allow flexibility in education to those who need it most- at an affordable price.
At the Midwifery Institute, we reject gatekeeping and bigotry in all forms. We acknowledge how race, gender, economic status, religion, and more can impact clients’ care in a birth setting, and actively work to dismantle the systems of oppression that affect at-risk populations. We strive to improve birth and parenting for ALL families, regardless of how they look, believe, or make money.
The Midwifery Institute is based in the United States.

All continuing education is provided online so you can follow it anywhere, anytime.  You can complete the courses at your own pace.
